The Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust is prominent in helping to maintain our priceless heritage. Those who care about this heritage are encouraged to name the Trust as a beneficiary in their wills.
The advantages of a bequest
- it is an effective way for many people to make a more substantial donation than their present circumstances may permit.
- it may not be liable to inheritance tax.
- a substantial gift can be made without affecting your family’s current security.
How to make a bequest
A legacy of money
This is a gift of a named amount of money. Inflation may erode its value over the years, but this can be avoided by making provision for the amount given to be increased automatically in line with a prices index.
A legacy of property
Gifts may be left in the form of land, shares, pictures or other valuables. The Trust would sell the asset or assets at an appropriate time and apply the proceeds to its work.
A residuary legacy
This is part or all of the residue of your estate after all other legacies and obligations have been fulfilled. If you would like to support the Trust in this way, either by amending your existing will or by a codicil, you should seek professional legal advice.
Please contact the Trust if you would like to discuss this further.
